Salary

During academy training, compensation is up to $70,748. After one year of service, the minimum compensation increases to $109,620.

The Special Operation Response Team (SORT)

The Special Operations Response Team (SORT) was created in 1980 to provide a tactical response element for the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. There are currently six regional teams.

Aviation Unit and SORT give a demonstration at a State Police event.

The New York State Police Aviation Unit provides law enforcement support, search and rescue, and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) services.
