The New York State Police welcomes applicants who have served in the military and are looking for a rewarding and exciting career. With a paramilitary structure and specialized assignments, those with military experience can continue to utilize their skills in a career with the State Police. The New York State Police offers several benefits for qualifying military applicants.
Depending on individual circumstances, service members may qualify for an extension to the age requirements for application and appointment.
If you are or were a member of the U.S. Armed Forces on a full-time active duty basis, you may be eligible to have extra credits added to your passing score on the written exam.
If you pass the written exam and are invited to further processing, you may be eligible to defer processing to a later date if your active-duty service prevents you from attending.
Veterans may be eligible to receive a 30 College Credit waiver.
